20. Our Church

You Need the Bread of Life

Jesus is the Bread of Life, the very source of Eternal life; just as physical bread is the “staff of [physical] life.” We need the Bread of Life to live in our hearts, to help us with our everyday lives, and to guide us to Heaven. This is the ONLY way to get Eternal Life.

Christian Fellowship

God did not design us to be loners. He designed us to need each other, to need Christian Fellowship. That is what church is for; helping each other in our walk with God.

Church is supposed to be a place where you feel “at home,” a place where, as the song says, “you can see, our troubles are all the same…where everybody knows your name, and their always glad you came. ….”

You and your family need to be a part of a bigger family.

You need us. And we need you.

Our History

Bread of Life Christian Fellowship held her first service May 1, 2001 in the Tracy home in Dayton. We also held Bible studies in Dave and Nancy Morton’s home in south Carson City on Tuesday nights.

The property at 10042 hwy 50 East in Moundhouse was bought March 14 2002. It was completed and the final for holding service there was received on October 26, 2003. This property is owned by the church itself.

Our Government

Bread of Life has a Board of Elders made up of the Board of Deacons (the ministers of the church), and the Board of Trusties.

The Deacons are responsible for the Spiritual matters of the Church and the Trustee Board is responsible for the material matters.

We have a Meeting of the Membership once a year, usually the last Wednesday of February. However, any time anyone has any question, we are happy to answer them.

Membership

In order to be a Voting Member of Bread of Life, you must attend regularly for six months; support the church financially, emotionally, and with your time. You must also have completed this study with a current member in good standing.

The Store

Bread of Life became a distributor for No Greater Joy ministry in 2004. We are able to buy resources from them at a discount so we can sell them affordably. All profits from NGJ materials go directly into buying more materials.

Several members of our congregation have written books. These have either been donated directly to the Church or are on consignment. Again, all the money the church gets goes back into purchasing more resources.

We do have a few other items for sale from other publishers, but we usually sell them at cost.

Missionaries

We support the Northern India Christian Ministries, an organization in the unreached areas of north India that trains local converts to be ministers in their own communities. They also have a school, college, and widow’s training program. We try to have them visit us once a year.

Food Pantry

Each family in the church is asked to bring one can of food per week to add to our food pantry. (Some families just buy a couple of cases of food once a year at Smith’s case sale). This food is used to help those we hear of who are in need.
